MARIA MARTINEZ, Ph.D.

TRAINING
Maria Martinez is a clinical psychologist with expertise working with individuals, children and families. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill clinical psychology program and completed internship at the Charleston Consortium at the Medical University of South Carolina. Both are top accredited programs by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCAS). This translates to exceptional clinical care grounded in research and science. Dr. Martinez completed fellowships in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) and Maternal and Child Health, co-authored publications, presented at national conferences, and served as co-investigator and consultant on numerous research studies. She is experienced working in schools and the community. Prior to doctoral training, she worked at the National Institute of Mental Health involved in mood disorder research.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Tailoring additional evidence-based or evidence-informed practices for your specific needs are a speciality of her practice. Advanced training and experience conducting psychological assessment and therapy for individuals with the full range of abilities and bilingual/multilingual backgrounds are also areas of expertise. Psychological assessments are tailored to suit your specific need with an extremely quick turnaround on private school admissions testing. Services are provided in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region.
